Ingotse Boys and Sivilie Girls Crowned Navakholo KSSA Champions

Ingotse High School and Sivilie Girls Secondary School have been crowned champions of the Navakholo Sub County Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) finals after thrilling victories in their respective categories.

Ingotse High School emerged victorious in a tense penalty shootout, edging out Sirgoi Secondary School 5–4 after a goalless draw in regular time. The boys’ final, held at Ingotse High School grounds, drew a large and passionate crowd of supporters. With neither side able to break the deadlock during regulation time, Ingotse held their nerve during the shootout, converting all their penalties to book a spot in the Kakamega County games.

In the girls’ final, Sivilie Girls edged out Bushiri Girls 1–0 in regular time. The closely contested match saw Sivilie capitalize on a defensive lapse to score the only goal of the game, securing their ticket to the county championships and clinching the girls’ title.

Gracing the event was Mr Emmanuel Makokha, Youth Advisor in the Office of the Governor, who attended on behalf of HE Governor Fernandes Barasa. Mr Makokha commended the players for their determination and sportsmanship, emphasizing the county’s commitment to nurturing young talent through structured sporting programs.

“This tournament reflects the passion and potential of our young people. The county government, under Governor Barasa’s leadership, is committed to creating opportunities for youth in both academic and co-curricular fields,” he said.

The victories by Ingotse and Sivilie come at a time when Kakamega County is preparing to host both the national and Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) games at Bukhungu Stadium. The facility is currently undergoing major renovations under the directive of Governor Barasa to meet the standards required for hosting regional and continental events.

With eyes now on the county level competition, Navakholo’s finest will be looking to carry their momentum forward and make a mark on the larger stage.
