The Nativity of our lady Mutoma Girls’ senior secondary school located in Butere sub-county is a young fast growing institution with neat environment and strategically placed along Musanda Highway. The school is out to showcase her prowess in both academics and co-curricular activities emanating from the 87 current candidates who are burning midnight oil to achieve the set target of 5.00 later in the year.

The sub-county girls’ school is sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Kakamega and has student population of 300 taught by 5 TSC teachers and 6 contracted by BoM management. Its main challenge is understaffing a situation hampering the desired results.
Principal Loice Mukatu who is one year old at the school has varied plans that will see Mutoma become among the greatest in the country.

Early syllabus completion with a revision timetable has led to extensive revision and students have extra-learning program for morning and evening learning coupled with weekend challenge.
She has acquired internet connectivity meant for downloading revision papers which are to familiarize students on how national examination is set and tackled.

There is exchange programs in different subjects among neighbouring schools. The school has students at heart because they don’t send them home for fees and instead invite parents to school for commitment.
A perfectionist humanitarian mother figure does not condone indiscipline. She has team work experienced teachers who go beyond their description in ensuring that learners get the best.
” The friendly nature to the girl child is a sign of love and appreciation to them. We do joint exams and revise together.(BUSHIMO) Bukolwe,Shinamwinyuli,Shitsiswi, and Shiyanza do converge for a common purpose which has helped us in many ways,” shared the principal.
” We are working on walkways to eradicate muddy environment. Together with the BoM we have done a lot of repairs in the dormitories to make them a pleasant place for sleeping,” aveered madam Mukatu.
The school is ready to take 2 pathways and are ready to add more computers and laptops and buy projectors. They are on plans to build a studio for journalism club which is vibrant.
Rugby girls is going for the county competition and players are ready to go for the highest level. Legball, netball, volleyball all does well and are promising any opponent a tough game in future.

The school is requesting the ministry of education to build them Home science, Dining hall and renovate and equip laboratory. They also requested the area MP to buy them a bus for more academic tours.
