St Augustine Rosterman secondary school placed at Joyland,in Lurambi constituency has risen to the ranks among the best growing and established institutions with intent of admitting more students next year due to the best facilities and conducive environment it possesses.

The pure mixed day school has 250 students guided by 20 TSC teachers who have reignited the mantle of early syllabus coverage coupled with extra-learning hours due to their improved early reporting and late leaving the school. With Home science and computer rooms fitted with requisite equipment, they are on the top gear in readiness for the competency based Education as from next year and are registered to offer two pathways.
Principal Edward Airo said that the Catholic sponsored school has unique attributes among students who are disciplined and ready to grasp new learning models and modern aspects for improved results

There are enough teachers for the small population of students meaning they get fully focused and the ratio is balanced. In 2024 KCSE they improved and managed to send a good number of students to join public universities. The 69 current candidates are working hard in attaining the 5.0 set target.

” With enough teachers to help students understand learning concepts I assure you that we’re heading places and this could become a big school in the next 5 years,” said the principal.
The school is lucky to have all the infrastructure constructed by Donors in the name of KEEF a European community based organization,CDF and the ministry of education. Its surrounded by tarmac roads leading to kakamega town and has flat surface fields used for co-curricular activities.

Among the challenges the school faces vary from poor fee payment, huge debts which disrupt normal schools running and constant absenteeism which has become a nuisance.

Deputy principal Nickson Omukabe has hands on the decks in ensuring that discipline and other administrative duties assigned by the principal are met with ease.
