Bishop Sulumeti girls Lugari is an extra-county school in Lugari sub-county, kakamega county. The school is an all round and this year they are the Regional volleyball champions and aiming at the podium finish.
Found in a conducive with ambient surroundings its sole mandate is to work hard and achieve improved performance among the 257 current candidates who have the slogan for “sparkles” and are burning midnight oil in achieving the set target of 6.0.

Student population number is 720 grouped in 5 streams taught by 27 TSC teachers and 4 on BoM basis. Candidates involve in contests and symposia together with frequent visits of external examiners who reinforce the aspects and concepts of better performance and improved mean.
They carry out extra-learning and observe remedial sessions to take care on weak areas which has helped to reduce tail grades making the mean score to improve. Syllabus is completed on time hence concentration on thorough and rigorous revision.

Principal Rebecca Alwena joined the school in 2023 and has turned the tide towards academic excellence and co-curricular activities to honcho clarkston. She promotes talent nurturing formation and support all forms of academic work which makes the school an all round sphere.
The Catholic sponsored school led by Fr. Douglas Sore of our lady Queen of peace Lumakanda parish is incharge of spiritual nourishment that inculcate discipline among students that practice doctrines enshrined in the spiritual virtues and values which grooms them.

“This school is multi-talented and has prospects of emerging the best in the county and beyond. We are the volleyball Regional champions and also our Racquet team is progressing to the nationals with our 4 girls namely:- Mary Wanjiru,Retrack Trosian, Irene Opati,and Ashiliny Nyangai,” revealed the principal.
Volleyball coach Mr Asman Mwanza a teacher shared to educationhotspot news that they are ready for any team and their target is to cling the national trophy. He added that it’s an opportunity for the school to reach the East Africa secondary schools Games(EASSG) which will be hosted in kakamega, Kenya for the first time as from August 14th to 25th. Kakamega county will also host the Kenya National school games for this year as from July 27th to August 3rd.
Five players among the volleyball team led by captain Serena Busolo have been selected for under 20 National team for trials to be conducted before the kickoff of Nationals.
The school is unique to have a vibrant science and Environmental climate club which does a lot of environmental conservation in recycling plastics and planting flowers in them and plant trees for afforestation.
They produce green energy through Briquette making and are now training women in the villages and advocate for the use of briquettes. They also use ashes from the kitchen to pour in latrines which kills flies.
The patron Ambassador Naomi Nancy Nakhumicha Wanyonyi an educator, mentor and environmental champion is known for inspiration work in sustainability and education. She holds HSC- Head of state commendation (TSC Kenya), OGW- Order of the Grand warrior (Kenya), Environmental conservation medal – Heroes council of Kenya, Climate change champion- UNESCO and Africa women summit, Global Teacher Award (India),Go green Award- Optiven, and Gender Equality champion -DIAR Awards.
