The Kenya Secondary School Sports Association (KSSSA) term one national games came to conclusion on Saturday 12,2025 with Rift Valley region emerging  champions. They fought hard to beat last year’s champions Western region by garnering a total of 95 points with western region coming second with 88 points.

Nyanza region retained third position by acquiring a total of 67 points while Nairobi and Coast regions followed suit  garnering 62 and 58 points respectively.

Rift Valley managed to excel across multiple disciplines. Its rise was due to its exceptional performance in athletics where both boys and girls excelled in track and long races. The region’s dominance also extended to cross country events culminating to the region’s 26 gold medals, 33 silver medals and 8 bronze with an aggregate of 67 medals.

This placed them ahead  with 554 marks before Western and Nyanza regions who secured 276 and 241 concurrently.

Few teams  managed to retain their positions like 3 times national basketball champions Butere girls who managed to retain their crown while many didn’t cope up with the event’s intensity.

KSSSA Secretary General David Ngugi emphasized that this year’s event was successful and competitive as a result of fair playing grounds.” Games are meant for students growth and learning as enshrined in the CBC,” put Mr Ngugi.

Brookside Dairy, the event’s sponsor, commended the high level of competition through Wilson Okongo who is the company’s Corporate Communications Manager. He stated that the competition was one of the most intensely contested in recent years and with the presence of scouts made it more colourfully.

This year Brookside KSSSA recently concluded was a preview of the upcoming East Africa Secondary Schools scheduled for August 14th to 25th in Kakamega and the top 3 of the teams which emerged champions from various categories will be showcasing their talents in full swing.
