“As stakeholders we need to catch up and find ways that will bring fruition skills into classrooms because it is the only swift option for these rational minds in the name of Gen Z,” reiterated Elaine.
Dr James Mutuku, a senior education researcher is of the view that technology can be used to address several challenges in the education sector which could help with career development by producing all-round individuals.
“From bridging learning gaps and supporting inclusive education to enhancing teacher effectiveness and reducing administrative burdens. Digital apparatus offer practical solutions,” he stated.

She encouraged schools to create a supportive and inclusive environment that allow young teachers to share their experience and thrive in technology among students.
“Gen Z teachers can be helpful, support their innovation and creativity and embed their skills for better learning. Technology is no longer optional; it is the future of teaching and I humbly request education stakeholders to provide professional development and training especially in ICT,” she implied, adding that all teachers should be at wavelength in the fast-evolving digital landscape.
Many schools have already began embracing technology. Some are encouraging students to create educational content such as podcasts, videos and digital presentations. Others are leveraging platforms like Discord or Slack for collaborative learning or integrating ramification through apps that make lessons more interactive and engaging.
Experts however stress that it is not just a matter of using the latest tech tools, rather than fostering a mindset of innovation, critical thinking and creativity. There are concerns about screen time, online safety and unequal access to devices and internet connections.
The skills Gen Z bring at the table should be cultivated and as technology continues to shape the world outside classrooms. This may be the key to truly preparing students for the future.
