In tandem with the curriculum based education (CBE) under the arts and sports science, Vihiga sub-county schools converged at Madira girls to showcase their talents and prowess for this year music festival at the sub-county level.

Notable schools in music champions like Vihiga boys,st Clare’s Maragoli girls,Mudavadi girls,Ideleri secondary,Madira girls,Vigina secondary,Chango,Inyanza,Magui,Kitumba and Idavaga Muslim schools made the day successful.The county competition will be held at Vihiga boys in a fortnight.

” May I encourage everyone for your participation and encourage those that didn’t merit for the next level to embark on thorough learning in your studies and wish the rest all the best in their endeavours,” averred principal Lydia Amara.
Kadiri Edambo Ben, a teacher at Ideleri secondary and also the sub-county music secretary highlighted the main challenge across all the schools was inadequate funding from the government which contributed to inept performance witnessed where some schools could not even afford to have costumes.
Kadiri remained optimistic that things will improve at the county level and noted that this year competition hit a high notch despite the doldrums.
Bernadette Nekesa a teacher and music trainer at Kitumba secondary appreciated the proper organization spirited from the sub-county music committee for the classical show.
She shared to Education hotspot news as a school they aim to progress to higher levels now that CBE is in place.

She advised the ministry of education to not only facilitate lunch for drivers, but also to incorporate teachers who voluntarily train students day and night without any motivation and only depend on their various schools for lunch during competitions.
“I will continue fighting for teachers rights since I am contesting for the seat of Secretary gender at Vihiga county KUPPET early next year when we shall have elections and I believe and request all teachers to vote for me overwhelmingly,” she requested.
