A county mixed day school the champion for record breaking in Navakholo sub county is once again celebrating the good results posted in 2024 performance. They have registered the first A plain since time immemorial and the school has defied odds at many occasions by producing congratulatory results.

A 17 years top girl Stacy Nakhumicha scored direct A plain putting the school on a map of elites from the region.

In 2024 Kenya certificate of secondary education the school had a mean score of 8.372 from a class of 360 students whom 341 qualified with direct entry to university having 95% and registering a positive deviation of +1.304.

The 7 streams school has a student population of 1473 with 52 teachers,20 employed by teachers service commission and 32 contracted on board of management terms. In 2023 KCSE they posted a mean of 7.068.

speaking to the principal Isaac Mpalwe, the hotspot confirmed that the school has maintained an upward trend for many years and they are promising to perform even better come end of this year.

The principal shared that they complete syllabus in form three for candidates class and embark on re-teaching the content and does a lot of joint exams with performing schools like st Mary’s girls Mumias,Bungoma High school,Vihiga boys and Ukwala boys, just to mention only a few.

In first term, they identify weak areas and begin re-teaching in those areas where two full exams are done per term and thorough revision is conducted with a well co-ordinated programme up from the principal office down to class teachers who ensure that no absenteeism is recorded in all classes which encourages parents to pay fees in kind like foodstuffs, bricks,stones. Though,fees payment has remained to be the biggest problem because a majority of students come from humble backgrounds.

” We invest a lot of money in rewarding students and teachers which motivates them and where results revolve around,” shared the principal.

The top three students are awarded money in every class,top student in every subject rewarded and the most improved student per class also awarded. Principal’s award give 500 shillings to any student who scores A plain and A minus respectively. These awards are given at every release of any examination.

“Our last year class was above average and we expected even more As ,but because of English subject poor performance which is our main challenge led to decline of A grades,” implode Mpalwe.

Last year target was 7.5 and they worked extra hard to surpass it by posting 8.372. They have set 8.5 being this year target and they are promising to work extra harder to achieve the target.

Like any other champion,the institution does well in soccer both girls and boys, music goes up to nationals for set pieces, scouts and Drama are among the notable sports that excel.
