A mixed day with student population of 390 registered as 2 streams school, is burning midnight oil in meeting the set target of 6.0 for the 51 candidates who are a promising class.

St Luke’s Epanja secondary school has worked exceedingly well in attaining a mean score of 5.529 an upward trend from 4.3429 with a positive deviation of +1.186 scored in 2024 KCSE.
A fast growing learning institution did her first KCSE in 2016 out which it has been recording an upward trajectory. Last year’s results are just a reflection of how the school is improving gradually.

The principal shared to education hotspot that he is going to persuade TSC to increase at least the number of TSC teachers who are only 6. Those employed under board of management are 9 putting in mind that the school is struggling in footing for the huge wedge bill.
Epanja secondary don’t have TSC teachers in Kiswahili, Agriculture and Business studies. Though, the few available personnel are a motivated staff who sacrifices beyond their means in ensuring that students’ demands are realized.
The school is on a mission in reducing the tail through a collaborative effort in increasing benchmarking in the best practices especially in mathematics and sciences. Weekend programme is observed willingly without any pay accompanied by creating ability groups which identifies weak areas to be capitalized.
The principal, BOM and P.A have a leeway humanitarian approach that allows students to stay in school despite their looming fees balances,so that absenteeism is dealt with. Students have intensified the reading culture in English and Kiswahili subjects to improve in their mean scores. And the goodwill from the stakeholders is a sure sign that the school is deemed for destiny.
” Our discipline is good coupled by team work among teachers which was illustrated in last year KCSE where we didn’t record any pregnancy among the girls,” alluded Mr Wabuli.
With a serene environment far away from marketplace, the school is heading for academic accolades hence a centre of reference because the culture supports excellence and indeed the community is going to have people of immense value in the near future. There is promptiness in learning, and aspect that helps in the timely syllabus completion.
The school is a holistic learner evolution which do not only support education, but also co-curricular activities in tandem with the CBC key notes.
An Anglican church of Kenya – Mumias diocese sponsored school does joint exams with other schools sponsored by ACK in the county of kakamega that has helped them to improve in their mean score.
There is capacity building mounted by the KESSHA, ministry of education and the sponsor for all the teachers at the school which shows teamwork and co-operation.
Deputy principal Caleb Olunga who has been at the station for 9 years,has vast experience in guiding the school in terms of discipline and performance.
The main challenge in school is inadequacy of space for expansion especially in the infrastructure,no laboratories, library and enough classes. No enough space for playing ground.
The school is founded on a 2 acre piece of land. Therefore,we are requesting for stakeholders’ concerted efforts in helping the situation,” requested the principal.
